He even has teeth and a tongue now!<br /><br />The wings are the most obvious addition, and gave me quite seom trouble, since the left arm turned out to be a bit shorter than the right one, something I did not notice when I made the armature. This meant scrapping the entire left wing (which was halfway done at that point) and starting all over on it.<br /><br />I also reworked the softer skin on the beast´s underside and neck. I didn´t like the way it looked prior, still not sure if I like the new look either...<br /><br />Anyway, the wyvern is almost finished, he just needs some more smoothing around some rough edges, particularly around his wings, and then he´ll be done. Time to think about a rider!Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2646983611050101638.post-49934145163942462162011-07-25T04:48:00.000-07:002011-07-25T06:27:32.048-07:00WIP Wyvern<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh4ZhhWieEFUEMwdKlBsHwa4mypl42M5-kDp8Jw5K1phY3wo5eXpg1wHTZ9l-4OW94KgYLjIJfLs-3b688PIfvZkmh0zYxQSMciCTnk_sYBBZ5x_hRN7pqy3H6ZmfkaKhgCQofi3xdeRU0/s1600/asdfewe.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 327px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh4ZhhWieEFUEMwdKlBsHwa4mypl42M5-kDp8Jw5K1phY3wo5eXpg1wHTZ9l-4OW94KgYLjIJfLs-3b688PIfvZkmh0zYxQSMciCTnk_sYBBZ5x_hRN7pqy3H6ZmfkaKhgCQofi3xdeRU0/s400/asdfewe.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5633256903062401794" border="0" /></a>The <a href="http://www.manticgames.com/Shop-Home/Elves/Cavalry/Product/Elven-Drakon-Riders.html">drakon cavalry</a> that was released for Kings of War failed to live up to my expectations.<br /><br />However, I do like the concept: Smaller drakes/wyverns as monstrous cavalry is an awesome idea.<br /><br />So I went about sculpting my own wyvern. I imagine these beasts to be predators, instead of using the "noble dragon-trope", seizing their prey (most likely deer) with their jaws and using their clawed hind legs to kill it.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2646983611050101638.post-47175104051584958602011-07-24T10:32:00.001-07:002011-07-25T02:55:19.249-07:00Dwarf Berserker Champion<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjpJAD1ohpGU2dnu-bqqQVtgzL8nosc8tTMkUP9sCumsIMSPN9B-1sz7nnthKVO5J1znteBD6Yt9B7qjrCmJn_SSuThG6vV6YC-IKDIIhkRzm7xuOYZHiTWHWmVcPKzrDE0DeVhINQizik/s1600/Slayerumbau.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 325px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjpJAD1ohpGU2dnu-bqqQVtgzL8nosc8tTMkUP9sCumsIMSPN9B-1sz7nnthKVO5J1znteBD6Yt9B7qjrCmJn_SSuThG6vV6YC-IKDIIhkRzm7xuOYZHiTWHWmVcPKzrDE0DeVhINQizik/s400/Slayerumbau.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5632973329251144642" border="0" /></a><br /><a href="http://www.avatars-of-war.com/">Avatars of War</a> have recently released a plastic kit for dwarf berserkers. Without reviewing it in depth, I´m quite taken with it, although I do have some complaints.<br />While the number of parts is very high, sometimes even annoyingly so (I really don´t enjoy assembling plastic miniatures all that much), the nnumber of poses possible is very limited.<br /><br />The large beards are part of the head bits and limit the posability by bumping into the arms and stomach. Of course the beards are a tricky part for plastic dwarfs, so I won´t hold this against AoW.<br /><br />The arms on the other hand yould have been designed better. There are four different pairs of arms, but they all effectively hold their weapons at the body´s side. Having a berserker raise his weapon into the air results in the deltoid musculature ending up in the dwarf´s armpit.<br /><br />Also, there is no "shouting" head. Berserkers need to shout and holler like nobodies business! A missed opportunity IMO.<br /><br />So for the pose I wanted my unit´s champion to have I had to break out the green stuff. The result is pictured in the image above.<br /><br />Sadly the plastic berserkers are not in the same scale as their metal predecessors in the Avatars of War range, which is a bit of a shame.<br /><br />Keep in mind that I am nitpicking, the set offers cool looking models, many spare bits and is a lot of fun all in all.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2646983611050101638.post-2400871327034729132011-02-11T11:34:00.000-08:002011-02-11T11:35:37.109-08:00Internet Troubles...Just a quick post to apologize for the lack of updates. Chiefly to visit Mantic Games` Open Day, but we also used the opportunity to visit GW HQ, including the Warhammer Museum and Bugman´s Bar.<br /><br />Warhammer World was dissapointing to me. Just a bigger GW store, and I don´t exactly have a high opinion on those. Same old, same old.<br /><br />Bugman´s Bar was nice, friendly staff and reasonably good food. But I really went there to get my grubby hands on an old Bugman miniature (the one standing on two barrels). I like dwarf miniatures, if you had not noticed yet.<br /><br />The highlight of our excursion to Warhammer World was the miniature museum (if we don´t count the Bugman miniature). There´s not much to be said about it, it´s a room full of display cases with beautifully painted miniatures, great dioramas and, best of all, vintage Citadel miniatures.<br /><br />If you find yourself in Nottingham and have an hour to spare, pay GW HQ a visit. There are worse ways to kill an hour.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2646983611050101638.post-79256892102955660292011-01-24T00:52:00.000-08:002011-01-24T01:55:44.235-08:00The Maniac Also Paints- Barbarian Sculpt Painted<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh7gY5DmgsJl-czZ5lHv1BKKWlowW2-y266sQ8aNJQrLTqchEFj7uHlhP5i5jqCIkjdWlz4bb1OH_-2JfBv3qZarHF96RJw86Ur8zhPAJ5eZHZnWZxSg4LwdvDIZunhJ1WzbVrZqEOhkfU/s1600/Barbarian+painted+24.01.2010.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 379px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh7gY5DmgsJl-czZ5lHv1BKKWlowW2-y266sQ8aNJQrLTqchEFj7uHlhP5i5jqCIkjdWlz4bb1OH_-2JfBv3qZarHF96RJw86Ur8zhPAJ5eZHZnWZxSg4LwdvDIZunhJ1WzbVrZqEOhkfU/s400/Barbarian+painted+24.01.2010.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5565677069434539538" /></a><br />This weekend I made a mold for the barbarian I sculpted. As it turns out, the mold is heavily flawed and the detail is at some parts not very crisp. Oh well, I´ll chalk it up as a learning experience. <br />And how fitting, since the barbarian was a practice piece to begin with.<br /><br />Despite the shortcomings of the mold and the resin casts made with it, I fixed one up and painted it. Since I tend to use the putty I think best suited for each situation, my sculpts tend to be colourful collages of different modelling clays and putties. However, I think that sometimes this makes it hard to properly judge a sculpt from pictures alone, especially when the very light grey of the FIMO clashes with the dark green of the Kneadatite.<br />A paintjob can help tie it all together properly.<br /><br /><br />Looking at the sculpt now, I feel that the axe looks a bit out of place. I might go ahead and make a new one, we´ll see...Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2646983611050101638.post-35336802461234195422011-01-20T16:24:00.000-08:002011-01-20T21:12:49.291-08:00Dwarf Lord Finished!<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg4ZMsJs-Dd5egyNdaj0eR2bAR81AF6QeyRbCZWUZOHpb-c-A0gJgGRAdBtwP__m-U4AMc4Ta5BMs_vmPt6i9ZePfIoqnjbxjcpYm36HhT4QF2uLW436a_60Q2FolsRM7r2SfX5V_q90Ek/s1600/Dwarf+Lord+20.01.2011+Finished.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 219px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg4ZMsJs-Dd5egyNdaj0eR2bAR81AF6QeyRbCZWUZOHpb-c-A0gJgGRAdBtwP__m-U4AMc4Ta5BMs_vmPt6i9ZePfIoqnjbxjcpYm36HhT4QF2uLW436a_60Q2FolsRM7r2SfX5V_q90Ek/s400/Dwarf+Lord+20.01.2011+Finished.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5564429087355884818" border="0" /></a><br />The deed is done.<br /><br />This project has been on hiatus for quite some time, but now it´s done and I am quite pleased with the results.<br /><br />The different colors on this model stem from the different putties I used: Green and brown stuff, ProCreate and Super Sculpey... it makes the sculpt look a bit colourful, but once painted that should hardly be noticeable.<br /><br /><br />On another note: I intend to pick up some pace when it comes to blogging here, and the intended goal is to post twice a week, mondays and thursdays.<br />Let´s find out how long I´ll keep this up...Unknownnoreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2646983611050101638.post-57034435257380906302011-01-17T17:06:00.000-08:002011-01-17T18:06:52.132-08:00Blast From the Past: My Very First Sculpt: Dwarf Ironbreaker<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjW8tZL8UmHxnBpouMGBSjlGg7xI7tscKgB1OUM8ed7JuQFbZW7uV_KAqxpEOHnNvztsUILSca7r9JCsG99cNsOoiwoB_ACBsYX1AIXa6dtAWFpHVJCORTxoBV7582in2y9gbLuQYdHotk/s1600/first+sculpt.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 377px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjW8tZL8UmHxnBpouMGBSjlGg7xI7tscKgB1OUM8ed7JuQFbZW7uV_KAqxpEOHnNvztsUILSca7r9JCsG99cNsOoiwoB_ACBsYX1AIXa6dtAWFpHVJCORTxoBV7582in2y9gbLuQYdHotk/s400/first+sculpt.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5563326116224211938" border="0" /></a><br />This is the first model I ever sculpted. I wanted some ironbreakers for my warhammer dwarf army, and I thought it might be fun to try and sculpt some myself. This is the first one I started, as well as the only one Iactually finished. This was well over a year ago, and I like to think that I have improved since these humble beginnings.<br /><br />It should be rather obvious by now, but I really like dwarfs. So I thought it fitting to include a comparison shot, with different dwarf I sculpted /am sculpting. They are ordered from left to right, from the very first to the current WIP.<br /><br />On to the model itself:<br />I remember struggling with the chainmail, and it taking several attempts to even get to the result you see on the image above. Needless to say it looks more than a bit "off", if you allow the understatement.<br /><br />The model´s plain appearance stands in high contrast to the amount of time and effort this one took. But I did not have any practice nor experience, so it taking very long is not all that surprising.<br /><br />I still quite like this model, although more for it´s sentimental value than it´s quality (or lack thereof). For a first try I don´t think it too horrible, and I learned a lot from sculpting it.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2646983611050101638.post-13822750550842456152011-01-09T01:13:00.000-08:002011-01-09T01:43:39.584-08:00Blast From the Past: Alien Glider<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjq3UJ50DJ_8gH-H_W9HNKDEXgcspVZJHc3ho5mJd8kIYlVINtnxtMx-jxbqOPEyksN0l9zOzCygl0nzR8E9vG8T-UKuxVCNeWyDj_YZiejdQ6dvpcf2miWUimXhz0tMVeu92cT-q2e2yM/s1600/Alien+Glider+Finished.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 361px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjq3UJ50DJ_8gH-H_W9HNKDEXgcspVZJHc3ho5mJd8kIYlVINtnxtMx-jxbqOPEyksN0l9zOzCygl0nzR8E9vG8T-UKuxVCNeWyDj_YZiejdQ6dvpcf2miWUimXhz0tMVeu92cT-q2e2yM/s400/Alien+Glider+Finished.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5560113065423656946" border="0" /></a><br /><span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_0">This</span> <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_1">is</span> a <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_2">model</span> I <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_3">made</span> <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_4">over</span> a <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_5">year</span> <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_6">ago</span>. berserker.<br /><br />He is done entirely in super sculpey, except the armature, which is made from wire with a thin coat of green stuff. Sculpey has a tough time staying on the wires themselves, so the green stuff both strengthens the armature and provides a more adhesive surface.<br /><br />Since super sculpey does not cure unless baked, I sculpted the entire body, boots, head and beard in one go, instead of working in small steps and letting the putty cure in between.<br /><br />Of course the axe head is only stuck on the model for the photo, I can´t attach it yet, since the plastic would not survive the oven.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2646983611050101638.post-59830165939204520032010-12-18T21:16:00.000-08:002010-12-19T05:55:48.534-08:00The Maniac Also Paints- Kings of War Shieldbreakers<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhdEtkIlc1NLCyiMsHbJQvg5-ofy62F7XimjxzSpcVgnyHvl61iawp8YOX8BcMSMDa1Vz_FWTpOWJvwnlzd282koF1hyAjypiY8NsscKWN4aWBk5mJS5oHVefeFScf_qcLxAejmnM610yc/s1600/shieldbreakers+painted.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 382px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhdEtkIlc1NLCyiMsHbJQvg5-ofy62F7XimjxzSpcVgnyHvl61iawp8YOX8BcMSMDa1Vz_FWTpOWJvwnlzd282koF1hyAjypiY8NsscKWN4aWBk5mJS5oHVefeFScf_qcLxAejmnM610yc/s400/shieldbreakers+painted.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5552259734230850642" border="0" /></a><br />On my visit at the Mantic towers during their open day I picked up some dwarf sprues. I already had some elves and undead, and I wanted to see the dwarves in person as well.<br />Only paying 40 pence per model made the decision much easier.<br /><br />Now I finally came around to build and paint a unit of shieldbreakers, dwarfs with two-handed weapons.<br />I did not use the bases the models come with, but glued the models directly to their regiment base. This allows for a bit more dynamic posing ,as well as saving a few models per unit (yeah, I´m cheap).<br /><br />Building the models was good fun. The low amount of parts per model means fewer details, but also less work in building and painting the buggers. "Bigger armies" indeed- these models beg to be fielded in mass.<br /><br />The paintjob is simple, mostly only one solid colour and a wash for shading, with the faces being the only exception to this. After all, these models are meant to be played with, and an army in Kings of War tends to be rather large.<br /><br />I think the Mantic dwarfs look best when seen in units, rather than as single models. The weaknesses in the sculpts are blurred away, and the stocky proportions of the models come to the fore.<br /><br />All in all I recommed the models! They look fine as single model and great as a unit. And they are inexpensive, the above unit comes in at 3,20 GBP!<br /><br />I did not intend to build an entire army of these fellows, since I already have a humongous dwarf army (mostly GW models), but I enjoyed painting the shieldbreakers and I like the look of the finished unit... we´ll see whether I´ll give in and get even more dwarfs.<br /><br />Also, check out Kings of War! It´s a great wargame, it´s easy to learn, open for all miniatures and <a href="http://www.manticgames.com/Hobby/Gaming.html">free to download on the Mantic website</a>.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2646983611050101638.post-80336080411670149102010-12-09T15:01:00.001-08:002010-12-11T05:13:14.919-08:00WIP Barbarian Update<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhedtvEfVt7i5FWwm_Hf3AhRfDWrFEgS-9tYIVLE348pLwtqutM4mT1eaNZff5UmhDshkN4wi39F-ziHgAJpNeJjyaItWmSx5IewIk6ToWAGBZ1KZGS654fd97q_rQZ_ibSnYrrphB2vyk/s1600/WIP+Barbarian+09.12.2010.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 166px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhedtvEfVt7i5FWwm_Hf3AhRfDWrFEgS-9tYIVLE348pLwtqutM4mT1eaNZff5UmhDshkN4wi39F-ziHgAJpNeJjyaItWmSx5IewIk6ToWAGBZ1KZGS654fd97q_rQZ_ibSnYrrphB2vyk/s400/WIP+Barbarian+09.12.2010.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5548821608415870210" border="0" /></a>The hands and boots are done, and his mighty axe well underway.<br /><br />Also included: A size comparison shot with the dwarf lord and a mugshot.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2646983611050101638.post-41688061023451293892010-12-07T16:31:00.000-08:002010-12-11T05:13:14.920-08:00WIP Barbarian<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgMgkOt4bVNsDQyuAPUArtF1lbh809Wah5m1677HiFDVcVsx5gUqly6QQZqddajHy8iB6EwjBKiMn3RhrLkZvZxQV_fkqS3PHPTAuo9sYvde_Ec6bd36-92UwDSls2Iwl1gmJyEg7xkudw/s1600/WIP+Barbarian+07.12.2010.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 247px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgMgkOt4bVNsDQyuAPUArtF1lbh809Wah5m1677HiFDVcVsx5gUqly6QQZqddajHy8iB6EwjBKiMn3RhrLkZvZxQV_fkqS3PHPTAuo9sYvde_Ec6bd36-92UwDSls2Iwl1gmJyEg7xkudw/s400/WIP+Barbarian+07.12.2010.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5548102747873879554" border="0" /></a> So far I did not sculpt any fur or muscles. The dwarf lord also sports the first face I ever sculpted, so I decided I need a bit more practice.<br /><br />Why a barbarian? Well, I like the imagery of ridiculously overmuscled warriors clad in fur and leather, it is delightfully cheesy and silly. And it allows me to practice musculature, faces, fur and hair.<br /><br />The body is sculpted out of FIMO, over a wire/green stuff armature, while the hair and fur is done in super sculpey. I just got my sculpey today and had to test it, and I must admit, it is a great putty. FIMO is not bad and is easily available in almost any crafts-store, but super sculpey takes the cake.<br /><br />Next on the to-do list are his boots, hands and weapon, as well as some jewelery here and there, maybe a necklace or wristbands, tht kind of thing. Oh, and he´ll need a drinking horn, obviously.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2646983611050101638.post-86289803043548362292010-11-30T17:30:00.001-08:002010-12-11T05:13:31.909-08:00WIP Dwarf Lord Update<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg6xbtxRIzGbJjxeuBWP0OtKTI0owvbgp2fsiawBn4z9GCEA4ynkUuq5tVhbP3-0787oLAEAMTxL8b86BYbqKbGVKB5gp3PKgSWgR1v1HAMx4BlQu6hbbM7Hbk2Tw-c7Nx7tRgpN_Cx_J4/s1600/WIP+Dwarf+Lord+30.11.2010.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 277px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg6xbtxRIzGbJjxeuBWP0OtKTI0owvbgp2fsiawBn4z9GCEA4ynkUuq5tVhbP3-0787oLAEAMTxL8b86BYbqKbGVKB5gp3PKgSWgR1v1HAMx4BlQu6hbbM7Hbk2Tw-c7Nx7tRgpN_Cx_J4/s400/WIP+Dwarf+Lord+30.11.2010.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5545520309267905602" border="0" /></a><br />The dwarf lord is nearing completion.<br /><br />I have redone the base, and I really think it has improved the model´s looks.<br /><br />The cape is done and I am quite satisfied with how it came out.<br /><br />The Crown/helmet was a major pain though, but now it´s nearly done.<br /><br />Now there are only some details left to do, and of course his weapons.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2646983611050101638.post-40333994471008034152010-11-17T13:05:00.000-08:002010-11-18T15:40:34.509-08:00All Hail the Iguana!<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj1gCt9irUeMVq9wLTaE9sjyjD7c3iRUN0D_TJoEfjLDSvf5Y1xaP1ox8HP4IbZwpGx-TIrsQXSx7qDc70TLAZLf10_kN8OA7W3C52heJcGuQeNkXmzkKZ1dqaWZjyYlXVVIxYuR7UDEjU/s1600/Lost+Temple+Base+50x50mm+painted+17.11.2010.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 187px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj1gCt9irUeMVq9wLTaE9sjyjD7c3iRUN0D_TJoEfjLDSvf5Y1xaP1ox8HP4IbZwpGx-TIrsQXSx7qDc70TLAZLf10_kN8OA7W3C52heJcGuQeNkXmzkKZ1dqaWZjyYlXVVIxYuR7UDEjU/s400/Lost+Temple+Base+50x50mm+painted+17.11.2010.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5540628336022910866" border="0" /></a>Whenever I have some spare green stuff I work on some "leisure"-projects. I was playing Warhammer at that time and more than willing to expand into 40k, so I picked up a Tau army.<br />Long story short I fell out of love with 40k after a few years, sold my Tau army and moved back to WHFB.<br /><br />When 5th edition came around I decided to give 40k another shot. After all I have had lots of fun when I first picked up the game, so I decided to use the cheaply available "Assault on Black Reach"-terminators to build a deathwing army.<br /><br />This was the first squad I painted for that army. I wanted a simple and clean look, quick to paint but good looking. I also enjoyed making the bases from plastic tubes, spare bits and wire. Early on I decided not to do many conversions or a stellar paintjob, so the bases should make the models stand out.<br /><br />There are many more squads to this army, all in various stages of completion, but I lack any motivation to finish the army, because actually playing WH40k again turned out to be a tedious exercise.<br />I honestly do not get what I ever saw in the game.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2646983611050101638.post-13553160265442096762010-10-14T20:26:00.000-07:002010-10-15T09:10:05.290-07:00Tyrannosaurus... still nearing completion<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEizuf7ngncUz174HneuHxJ211EUVGTlD_Ei2YgNOmrUIjrJmQ5NH02OcvtOYXUzGG8-zdqQAKWmVaZrGlsl8YatV7VPNDaM9SzHiod8szKeS3RcBRck6CnW-ZvezxSNzo-20ard4j5JAB8/s1600/WIP+Trex+14.10.2010.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 284px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEizuf7ngncUz174HneuHxJ211EUVGTlD_Ei2YgNOmrUIjrJmQ5NH02OcvtOYXUzGG8-zdqQAKWmVaZrGlsl8YatV7VPNDaM9SzHiod8szKeS3RcBRck6CnW-ZvezxSNzo-20ard4j5JAB8/s400/WIP+Trex+14.10.2010.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5528109457781658498" border="0" /></a><span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_0">The</span> <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_1">Tyrannosaurus</span> <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_2">is</span> <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_3">nearing</span> <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_4">completion</span>. alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5527632091896566498" border="0" /></a>Ok, I´m back and only now posting about the trip. I apologize for the delay.<br /><br />The visit to Mantic in Nottingham was a blast. So many impressions, information and the opportunity to meet the crew behind Mantic.<br /><br />The picture above is of a nice conversion of Warlord Games WWII German infantry and Mantic Zombies. Simple and effective.<br />Further back you can see a resin cast of a revenant knight and the greens for elvish bowmen.<br /><br />But the orc three-ups were the real highlight.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgXYHe7FjUCHFUud_abKLro-wkiJjLwE-vFgHO4Kor6_5YQZxfPD_jmMVTSvVX_vQLze8lXReWDcMuTCGH-Fb2WKijnxOjPyGj4dxH-4JiCX-AXoIthqVER3OHO0vkxul_M-dGSeg3cN4A/s1600/manticorc3ups.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 196px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgXYHe7FjUCHFUud_abKLro-wkiJjLwE-vFgHO4Kor6_5YQZxfPD_jmMVTSvVX_vQLze8lXReWDcMuTCGH-Fb2WKijnxOjPyGj4dxH-4JiCX-AXoIthqVER3OHO0vkxul_M-dGSeg3cN4A/s400/manticorc3ups.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5527633641906158226" border="0" /></a><br />I cannot wait for these guys to be released.<br /><br />And I´d like to thank Ronnie and Steve over at Mantic for the price support for our Kings of War tournament!<br /><br />I also visited Warhammer World and Bugman´s Bar, but found it to be rather dissapointing. IMO not really worth the trip. But at least I got myself one of the older Bugman miniatures (the one standing on the ale barrels), which my collection was still missing. So it wasn´t all bad.<br /><br /><br />On the status of my current projects: Work on the tyrannosaurus has resumed, although with some slight setbacks. There will be pictures tomorrow, I promise!Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2646983611050101638.post-7240743057892713332010-10-08T04:05:00.000-07:002010-10-14T21:00:15.007-07:00Tyrannosaurus 97% Done<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhHmc8cmTo1TUTO2lB1QSeIF2dEBTU84kn8xqLMEIoCesxR0tvLP0RLBtzmuU9BhcuejOGRugLXgYo7b2u-x6YhMSiErAcaH8AH1NOu3_0avQ9rMRCbjB_7HZcSmkOy3q3_53N_FPMDmco/s1600/WIP+Trex+08.10.2010.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 298px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhHmc8cmTo1TUTO2lB1QSeIF2dEBTU84kn8xqLMEIoCesxR0tvLP0RLBtzmuU9BhcuejOGRugLXgYo7b2u-x6YhMSiErAcaH8AH1NOu3_0avQ9rMRCbjB_7HZcSmkOy3q3_53N_FPMDmco/s400/WIP+Trex+08.10.2010.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5525630173257621714" border="0" /></a>As promised yesterday, here are pictures of the progress on the Tyrannosaurus. The rules are easy to pick up and play, eben absolute newcomers will have absolutely no trouble to dive right into it.<br /><br /><br />On a somewhat related note: Me and four mates are visiting Nottingham over the weekend... so there won´t be much sculpting done, but expect photos of our tour into the cradle of wargaming.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2646983611050101638.post-45131045254991946852010-10-03T14:21:00.001-07:002010-10-14T20:59:42.942-07:00Almost done!<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjbyEo4yp8nRdVabPmtuaKJzm4d4o0I1tZcZzP6vHl5BqGw7fpCJYEX9d71NX_3H1WXykTBOiqguooCGSxih7C-0y3obCG4w5dUYf6AMuC54Jv_gMN_S87K21ZGNVPz5ekJZOjmQ85Vw4s/s1600/WIP+Trex+03.10.2010.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 207px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjbyEo4yp8nRdVabPmtuaKJzm4d4o0I1tZcZzP6vHl5BqGw7fpCJYEX9d71NX_3H1WXykTBOiqguooCGSxih7C-0y3obCG4w5dUYf6AMuC54Jv_gMN_S87K21ZGNVPz5ekJZOjmQ85Vw4s/s400/WIP+Trex+03.10.2010.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5523933305307399810" border="0" /></a><br />The skin texture is 99% done.
